The Good Machine- Our Primary Election Results

My friends: We did it. We weren’t just marking time. We made a difference.
We made the city stronger.  We made the city freer.
” President R. Reagan, January 11, 1989

Election victories are the result of many factors- the candidates, hard working volunteers, and generous donors deserve the lion’s share of credit. Together, we’re making the IL GOP a stronger more principled Republican party.

We are proud that in 16 endorsed races, For The Good of Illinois PAC functioned as a force multiplier…

Here’s the score:  11 wins, 4 loses, 1 still undecided. Our concentration was most applied in seven races- where the candidates won 6 of 7.

Let’s break the races down:

Sen. Kyle McCarter (R-Lebanon),  John Bambenek (R-Champaign) and Brad Halbrook (R-Mattoon) all had opponents who exited their races before election day.

We strongly endorsed Sen. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) and David McSweeney (R-Barrington Hills) and helped on their winning campaigns. Garrett Peck (R-Plainfield) won with 50% of the vote in a tough four way contest.

We proudly endorsed Sen. Chris Lauzen for Kane County Board Chairman and Terry Hunt for the Auditor position.  They won.

Congratulations to Sen. Sam McCann (R-Carlinville), Dwight Kay (R-Glen Carbon), and Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove).  All ran great races and won handily.

Election judges are still counting write-in votes for Susan Sweeney (R-Park Ridge).

Again, with your help, we’ve strengthened the Republican Party.  Now it’s time for our stronger party to clean up Illinois.

In November, together, let’s beat Democrats!
