“Ron Sandack is a good government reformer constantly challenging the status quo and leading by example. As Mayor of Downers Grove, Ron helped institute term limits and sought out residents’ opinions about reducing the multitude of layers of government and the need for pension reform. During Ron’s service to Downers Grove he actually reduced the size and scope of Village government without any service reductions from the police, fire and public works departments. When Ron was appointed to the State Senate, the first thing he did was decline his legislative pension and health benefits and then decline to participate in the long abused legislative scholarship program. As a legislator, Ron has been a leader on fiscal issues such as cutting State spending, reducing the size and expanse of State government and reasonably reforming State pensions. To that end, Ron is the sole sponsor of a bill ending legislative pensions going forward.”
